The movement of vessels in ports, anchorages and fairways, as well as quay movements is managed and controlled by Vessel Traffic Management and Information System (VTMIS) on-duty operators.
Each communication by the on-duty operator of VTMIS to a ship or group of ships may contain information, advice, warning or notice/order.
Orders of the Vessel Traffic Management and Information System on-duty operator concerning vessel movements in ports areas, anchorages and fairways, are mandatory for ship masters or pilots of any vessel, except for military ships and border police ships.
Upon visiting the area of Bulgarian marine port, ship masters or pilots of any vessels report to the Vessel Traffic Management and Information System on-duty operator.
Movement of vessels having length larger than 24m in ports, anchorages and fairways is performed after a permission from the Vessel Traffic Management and Information System on-duty operator.
Before the start of each vessel’s movement in port areas, all ship masters or the pilot should ask for movement permission the Vessel Traffic Management and Information System on-duty operator
The calling signal for Burgas area of the Vessel Traffic Management and Information System on-duty operator is “Burgas Traffic”.
“Burgas Traffic” calling is established on VHF Channel 16th. Radio communication between all vessels and the Vessel Traffic Management and Information System on-duty operator is established on working channel 11th or over another channel specified by the operator for the specific case.
